WASHINGTON – Today, the Department of Commerce’s National Telecommunications and Information Administration (NTIA) has recommended for award more than $250 million to 24 organizations to support digital skills and inclusion projects in communities across the country. These investments will empower individuals and communities across the nation with the essential skills they need to thrive in today’s connected world.  

$16.1 million for Arizona, $10.1 million for Arkansas, $12.3 million for Colorado, $13.4 million for Maryland, $4.5 million for North Dakota, $2.1 million for American Samoa, and $2.1 million for the U.S. Virgin Islands

WASHINGTON – The Department of Commerce’s National Telecommunications and Information Administration (NTIA) will host a listening session in conjunction with a Request for Comment released today to gather feedback on potential ethical guidelines for the use of pervasive data in research.

Pervasive data refers to information about people gathered through online services. While this data can help provide essential insights for informing policy, there is a lack of clarity on how to ensure this research is done responsibly.

This funding comes from the $1.44 billion State Digital Equity Capacity Grant Program, one of three Digital Equity Act grant programs created by the Bipartisan Infrastructure Law.  

$41.7 million for Florida, $8.4 million for Iowa, $6.9 million for Montana, $2.1 million for the Commonwealth of the Northern Mariana Islands, and $2.1 million for Guam

In November 2024, the Department of Defense (DoD) and the National Telecommunications and Information Administration (NTIA) completed a study of the Lower 37 GHz band (37-37.6 GHz), paving the way for a co-equal, shared-use framework for government and commercial users in this “innovation band.”  It represents the first deliverable under the National Spectrum Strategy directive to examine a key set of bands to ensure U.S. leadership in spectrum-based services now and into the future.

$6.5 million for Nebraska, $4.9 million for New Hampshire, $9.9 million for Oregon, $12.8 million for South Carolina, $5 million for South Dakota, $55.6 million for Texas, and $5.2 million for Wyoming

Texas Requested Access to BEAD Funds Totaling Over $3.3 Billion; All 56 States and Territories Now Approved

WASHINGTON – The Department of Commerce’s National Telecommunications and Information Administration (NTIA) has approved Texas' Initial Proposal for the Broadband Equity, Access, and Deployment (BEAD) program, a cornerstone of the Biden-Harris Administration’s “Internet for All” initiative.  

WASHINGTON – The Department of Commerce’s National Telecommunications and Information Administration (NTIA) received 58 written comments in response to its Bolstering Data Center Growth, Resilience and Security Request for Comment (RFC).

The comments are available to the public via Regulations.gov.

$4.8 million for Delaware, $12.7 million for Louisiana, $14.2 million for Missouri, $11.2 million for Oklahoma, $15.8 million for Tennessee, and $9.8 million for Puerto Rico

WASHINGTON — Today, the Department of Commerce’s National Telecommunications and Information Administration (NTIA) awarded the Department of Hawaiian Home Lands (DHHL) more than $72 million from the Tribal Broadband Connectivity Program to expand high-speed Internet access and adoption in Native Hawaiian households.

$5 million for Alaska and $23 million for Ohio
