Subject: Coupons for converter boxes

To Whom It May Concern,

I strongly believe that it is not the responsibility of the government
to issue coupons to "eligible" households to purchase converter boxes
when digital TV replaces analog TV. The prices of TV's has dropped
incredibly, and more importantly, many people get their TV signal
through cable or satellite, which will allow people to pass the
audio-visual signal through inputs into their current TV. Very few
people get their TV signal through over-the-air signals anymore. The
government does not need another entitlement program or another reason
to increase the deficit any further. In addition, how will "eligible"
households be determined? The entire process seems wrought with abuses
and fraud. Remember the $2000 debit cards after Hurricane Katrina?

I strongly oppose this measure.
