Subject: Ntc Proposed Rulemaking re digital converter boxes
Converter boxes should NOT be limited to a small minority of
homes, just
to save our own tax dollars. Why is the NTIA presuming to rewrite
legislative intent?
You would be forcing those folks with satellites, who were
forced to buy
that service due to being in poorly served areas, to pay even
MORE in order
to get local stations on their satellite box. Worse, when heavy
storms
come in and we need to get local weather and news, you would
be depriving
those folks of the same chance to get this critical information
at all,
unless they buy all new digital receiver equipment !!
Converter boxes should be available to ALL people who attest
to the
fact that they watch local stations on rooftop antennae, whether
they are
also paying extra for satellite or cable or not. You are discriminating
against people already paying extra because they are in rural
or remote
locations, AND you are very wrong if you believe that so-called
'poor'
people don't spend their money on cable or satellite service
as well !
