Subject: Citizen Comments re $40 Coupon

While I see the $40 Coupon as necessary for some people, for other people
like me, who also receive most stations via cable, I would suggest that we
could save both our (citizens) money and "your" (government) money, in some
cases, if cable system providers were required to carry HDTV signals in
original "as broadcast" mode, without performing additional compression,
editing, or change of broadcast flags. Without this guarantee, I will want
to be able to receive my signals BOTH from the cable provider and "free" off
the air, and thus would also get a $40 (subsidized) converter box. While
this position may not seem logical, I assure you that I DO NOT LIKE IT when
cable TV providers are allowed to mess with my television signal, especially
not HDTV!
