Subject: converter box coupons

Dear Milton Brown:

I believe the time that you are allowing the converter box coupons to be used is too short. I say that because I live in a rurual area and may need to make a trip to a larger city such as rhinelander or wausau, Wi to visit a major retail store to purchse a converter box

I have more questions for you which I have not found the answers to
What is the cost of the converter boxes?
Which retail stores will be selling the converter boxes? Which retailers are accepting the coupons?

As a hard of oral hard of hearing person closed captioning is essential
Are all converter boxes able to carry the signal for closed captioning?
Do all converter boxes have the same features?

Which converter boxes can one use the coupons for? I would like to see this information posted on the web along with a list which comes with the coupons.

What information is being asked for on the application? How does one apply for the coupons? Are there other ways to apply rather than simply online? I would recommend a paper application and telephone be used as not everyone uses the computer

I suggest that you get the word out about the coupon program by using the regular media and newspapers. For the deaf and hard of hearing people definitely use organizations such as Hearing Loss Association of America, National Association of the Deaf to reach this special population. I would ask that you allocate money to these organizations to help get the word out. Also use state offices like the office for the deaf and Hard of Hearing in Wisconsin to get the word out?

Explain the appeal process for lost coupons or recourse if a retailer refuses to take the coupons.

Sincerely yours,

Susan Stanke
