Re: CS Docket No. 97-55 -- June 19, 1997 En Banc Hearing on Industry Proposal for Rating Video Programming and On "V-Chip" Technology
Dear Chairman Hundt:
On behalf of the Administration, I am writing to request that the above-referenced hearing on video programming ratings be postponed. It is our understanding that industry, parents groups and other interested parties are working to reach an agreement on ratings that will provide parents with information that will enable them to make informed choices about the programs their children watch. This effort is to be commended and encouraged, and we believe the postponement of the hearing would provide these parties with the opportunity to reach agreement.
We ask, however, that the hearings be rescheduled at the earliest possible date. Thank you for your consideration.
Sincerely,
Larry Irving
