A Freedom of Information Act (FOIA) request to the National Telecommunications and Information Administration, U.S. Department of Commerce, should include the following:
The request must be in writing and can be submitted by mail, e-mail, fax, or via FOIA Online. A statement that the request is being made under the Freedom of Information Act must be included in your letter. Mark the envelope "Freedom of Information Act Request." If you are making your request by e-mail, fax, or using the FOIA Online system, please include a mailing address. Please also include a daytime telephone number should we need to contact you for clarification.
The U.S. Department of Commerce, including NTIA, is in the process of moving to new FOIA case management system. March 29, 2023, at 5:00 p.m. Eastern, will be the final day and time to file FOIA requests through the FOIAonline portal for the U.S. Department of Commerce and its components. To submit a FOIA request electronically after March 29, 2023, at 5:00 p.m. Eastern, please do so through FOIA.gov or the other methods listed on this page.
