Kids Online Health and Safety
Overview
The Internet is an important part of our daily lives, connecting us to a wealth of information and opportunities for social connections. For young people, it gives access to essential resources for their education, their health, and their engagement with the community.
But the online world can pose significant risks to children, including threats to their mental health, safety, and privacy. America’s youth are experiencing an unprecedented mental health crisis. There is growing evidence that social media and other online platforms are contributing to this crisis.
The Taskforce will be reviewing best practice guidance for industry and caregivers seeking to protect minors online. The Task Force is further charged with developing voluntary guidance, policy recommendations, and a toolkit on safety-, health-, and privacy-by-design for industry to apply in developing digital goods and services.
The digital landscape is constantly evolving, and so are the challenges and opportunities it presents for young people. We owe it to them to stay informed and vigilant. This is not a one-time solution but an ongoing commitment to their well-being. Please return to this page regularly for updates on this initiative.
