Industry Listening Session: Market Incentives for 5G Security January 28, 2021 10:00am-12:00pm Eastern Standard Time

As laid out in the 5G Implementation Plan, NTIA will host industry listening sessions, the first of which is scheduled from 10:00am-12:00pm on January 28, 2021. This Listening Session will be focused on concrete and actionable steps that the United States Government, in partnership with industry, can take with regard to market incentives and 5G. Initial respondents will provide a baseline for participants to engage in a moderated discussion of opportunities, challenges, needs and concrete proposals that government and industry should pursue in partnership to advance secure 5G deployment.

10:05am-10:40am Closing 5G Security Gaps
In this session, participants will discuss 5G security gaps, and how the U.S. Government and industry can best address the economic and national security risks presented by the use of 5G worldwide. Focus areas include fostering secure deployment and integration, as well as the research, development, testing, and evaluation of new technologies and architectures.

10:40am-11:15am Ensuring the Viability of Domestic 5G Development
This session will examine how the United States Government can best assist the private sector in the domestic rollout of 5G technologies, including workforce development, and the development of a robust domestic 5G commercial ecosystem (e.g., equipment manufacturers, chip manufacturers, software developers, cloud providers, system integrators, network providers).

11:15am-11:50am Leveraging Trusted Suppliers
This session will discuss what market or other incentives the U.S. Government could put in place to promote or further encourage international cooperation around secure and trusted 5G infrastructure deployment.

11:50am-12:00pm Closing Remarks
