Biography

Lukas Pietrzak joined the National Telecommunications and Information Administration (NTIA) in February 2022 and is serving on detail to the Office of the Assistant Secretary and NTIA Administrator as a Special Policy Advisor for Broadband. In this role, he supports the Assistant Secretary of Commerce on topics related to the Internet for All initiative including NTIA’s Broadband Equity, Access, and Deployment (BEAD), Digital Equity Act, Tribal Broadband Connectivity, Connecting Minority Communities, and Broadband Infrastructure programs. Previously, Lukas led NTIA’s State Broadband Leaders Network (SBLN) in the Office of Internet Connectivity and Growth, a convening of all 56 broadband offices from the states, territories, and the District of Columbia. He provided direct support to state leaders and coordinated regular meetings and trainings.

Prior to joining the NTIA team, Lukas led partnerships and outreach for Next Century Cities, a 501(c)(3) dedicated to supporting municipal governments in closing the digital divide from coast to coast. He has also served as a Google Policy Fellow with the Open Technology Institute where he wrote on issues including affordability, digital redlining, and cross-sector partnerships.

Lukas received a Bachelor of Arts in Media Policy and Ethics from the University of Virginia and a Master of Public Policy from Georgetown University’s McCourt School of Public Policy.
