NTIA, Office of Public Affairs

Today, President Biden signed the Infrastructure Investment and Jobs Act into law. Evelyn Remaley, Acting Assistant Secretary of Commerce for Communications and Information and NTIA Administrator, released the following statement:

"Congratulations to President Biden, Vice President Harris, Secretary Raimondo, our colleagues in Congress and all of our partners in the private sector, state, local, and tribal governments, and civil society on this historic achievement. The bipartisan Infrastructure Investment and Jobs Act will deliver long-needed improvements and infrastructure buildouts to every corner of the country.

Under the Act, NTIA has been charged with administering the $42.5 billion Broadband Equity, Access, and Deployment Program, which will fund the infrastructure buildouts needed to connect every American to reliable, high-speed, affordable broadband. Other NTIA programs will address digital inclusion and equity, as well as expand middle mile infrastructure. Our active Tribal Broadband Connectivity Program has received an additional $2 billion to help further our efforts on tribal lands.

Our work is already underway, and we’re eager to engage with stakeholders in every state, territory, tribe, and community to ensure these programs succeed. Under the leadership of President Biden and Secretary Raimondo, we now have the resources we need to close the digital divide and make America more connected, more competitive, and more equitable than ever before."
