WASHINGTON – On January 31, Alan Davidson, Assistant Secretary of Commerce for Communications and Information and NTIA Administrator, will participate in a Kids Online Health & Safety Task Force Principal Listening Session hosted by the White House. This is the first in a series of principal listening sessions meant to engage with youth advocates, civil society, academia, industry and others to understand the risks posed by social media and other online platforms and identify solutions to mitigate those risks. Assistant Secretary Davidson will speak as a co-chair of the White House Task Force on Kids Online Health and Safety

The following statement can be attributed to Alan Davidson, Assistant Secretary of Commerce for Communications and Information and NTIA Administrator:

“At NTIA, our goal is not just to expand access to the Internet – we want people to thrive online. But I hear regularly from parents that today’s online services are not working for their kids. And young people from different walks of life have shared concerns not only about the status quo, but also about some of the proposed solutions.

“Our Task Force aims to address these concerns. We will hear directly from experts on concrete solutions to make meaningful improvements to young people’s experience online. This input will help inform NTIA’s forthcoming recommendations on best practices for industry and caregivers to help America’s youth thrive online.”
