NTIA Announces Members of Commerce Spectrum Management Advisory Committee
WASHINGTON – Today, the U.S. Department of Commerce’s National Telecommunications and Information Administration (NTIA) announced that Secretary of Commerce Gina M. Raimondo has appointed 30 outside experts to serve on the Commerce Spectrum Management Advisory Committee (CSMAC). This important advisory group provides policy and technical advice on a range of issues related to wireless technologies and the use of spectrum.
The outside experts will serve two-year terms and include 17 reappointments and 13 members who are new to the committee. The committee reports to NTIA, the Executive Branch’s principal advisor to the President on spectrum and telecommunications policies.
“Our world is increasingly wireless and connected. Wise management of the nation’s multi-trillion-dollar spectrum portfolio is essential to growing our economy and ensuring our national security,” said Alan Davidson, Assistant Secretary of Commerce for Communications and Information and NTIA Administrator. “America’s leadership in wireless technology will advance thanks to the service of these experts advising NTIA and the Department.”
Secretary Raimondo appointed members of the committee based on their technical background and experience, as well as diversity and balance in points of view, consistent with the CSMAC Membership Balance Plan. As Special Government Employees (SGEs), members serve as experts in their fields and do not represent any company, organization or interest. The operations of CSMAC are subject to the Federal Advisory Committee Act.
