Assistant Secretary Roth Announces Political Leadership Team at NTIA

WASHINGTON – Today, Assistant Secretary of Commerce for Communications and Information and National Telecommunications and Information Administration (NTIA) Administrator Arielle Roth announced her political leadership team in the Office of the Assistant Secretary.

“I am grateful to work alongside such a savvy, dynamic, and resourceful team as we advance the Trump Administration’s communications and technology agenda,” said NTIA Administrator Roth. “From securing America’s dominance in next-generation networks and technologies, to ensuring universal broadband availability, to strengthening public safety communications, this team brings the expertise, creativity, and determination to execute President Trump’s priorities, deliver measurable results for the American people, and reaffirm the United States’ global leadership in communications innovation.”

Adam Cassady serves as Principal Deputy Assistant Secretary for NTIA. Previously, he served for over four years at the Federal Communications Commission (FCC) for Commissioner Nathan Simington. Most recently, he served as Chief of Staff to Commissioner Simington, and prior to that as Commissioner Simington’s Senior Legal Advisor, managing a variety of telecommunications and technology portfolios. Prior to joining the FCC, Cassady co-founded a technology firm focused on delivering enterprise machine learning solutions.

Brooke Donilon serves as Chief of Staff for NTIA. Prior to NTIA, Donilon was Vice President of Government Relations for NCTA – The Internet & Television Association. She also served as Chief of Staff to Commissioner Michael O’Rielly at the FCC, Deputy Chief of Staff to Senator Ron Johnson, and Chief Counsel for the Senate Committee on Homeland Security & Governmental Affairs.

David Brodian serves as Chief Counsel for NTIA. In this position, he oversees all legal activities of the agency and advises the Assistant Secretary for Communications and Information on the development and implementation of key communications and information policies. Prior to his appointment, David most recently served as Senior Legal Advisor to FCC Commissioner Nathan Simington. He has also held various other legal and policy positions across government, including at the FCC, NTIA, House Energy & Commerce Committee, and the Department of Commerce Office of General Counsel.

Tricia J. Paoletta joins NTIA as Senior Advisor for Spectrum. Paoletta most recently was partner at HWG LLP, where she focused on telecommunications, trade, and technology policy. She has also served as Director of Telecommunications Trade Policy in the Office of the U.S. Trade Representative, Executive Office of the President; Majority Counsel to the House Energy and Commerce Committee; senior advisor to the International Bureau Chief and Office Director at the FCC; and Vice President of Government Relations at a leading digital infrastructure provider.

Matthew Plaster joins NTIA as Senior Advisor for Strategy. He previously served as Vice President at TwinLogic Strategies LLP, advising clients on technology, communications, consumer protection, and artificial intelligence issues. He has served Members of Congress including Senators Shelley Moore Capito and John Thune and previously worked at NTIA at the First Responder Network Authority (FirstNet).

Ben Elleson serves as the Director of Congressional Affairs for NTIA. He was most recently with the Internal Revenue Service and the Office of Personnel Management. Elleson previously served as Senior Director for Government Affairs at the U.S. Telecom Association and worked on Capitol Hill for a number of years, including serving as Chief of Staff to former Congressman Billy Long and Senior Policy Adviser for Congresswoman Kat Cammack.

Mollie Timmons serves as Senior Advisor for Public Affairs for NTIA. She was previously with the American Petroleum Institute and served as Communications Director for Congressman Morgan Griffith and as Press Secretary for former Senator Rob Portman. She began her public affairs career at the U.S. Department of Justice.

Andreas Schnabel serves as Special Advisor to Administrator Roth. Before joining NTIA, he served as Staff Assistant and Legislative Correspondent for Congressman Troy Nehls.

Ania Urban serves as Special Advisor to Deputy Administrator Cassady. Prior to joining NTIA, she served as Confidential Assistant to FCC Commissioner Nathan Simington.
