Envisioning an Equitable, Inclusive, Connected America

Connecticut Local Coordination 

The Connecticut Department of Energy & Environmental Affairs launched a series of local coordination meetings in late fall 2023. These in-person listening sessions solicited feedback and launched a statewide listening tour to gather further input on the Initial Proposal draft.

Breaking Down Barriers to Broadband through Public Engagement

The Connecticut Commission for Educational Technology held in-person digital equity listening sessions to identify non-connectivity barriers to broadband adoption in communities across the state of Connecticut.

Public Engagement Partnership with Nonprofits and Advocacy Groups

Connecticut held quarterly roundtable meetings with nonprofit and digital equity advocacy groups to obtain a better understanding of barriers to connectivity for vulnerable and underserved populations in Connecticut.

Public Engagement of Connecticut’s Five-Year Action Plan

Connecticut held several roundtable meetings virtually with local government partners to solicit feedback and receive input for the development of Connecticut’s Broadband Equity, Access, and Deployment (BEAD) Five-Year Action Plan and Initial Proposal. These engagements ensured quality local coordination in Connecticut’s BEAD deployment efforts. The state continued these meetings to maintain engagement.

Connecting the Private and Public Sectors 

Connecticut held quarterly roundtable meetings virtually with Internet Service Providers (ISPs) and other industry partners. These roundtables served as a forum for developing strong partnerships between the state of Connecticut and potential BEAD subgrantees and ensured dialogue at every step of the BEAD program.

Connecting Tribal entities and State Governments

The Connecticut Department of Energy & Environmental Affairs engaged with Tribal entities such as the Mashantucket Pequot Indian Tribe to ensure connectivity to Tribal communities in Connecticut’s BEAD Initial Proposal.
