Future Proofing
The State of Nevada received a $43.5 million National Telecommunications and Information Administration (NTIA) grant through the Enabling Middle Mile Broadband Infrastructure (Middle Mile) Program, matched by $43.5 million in state funds, to design, build, operate, and maintain a buried, multi-innerduct route from a major Internet exchange in Las Vegas to an interconnect point in Wells.
Nevada Office of Science Innovation and Technology (OSIT) published a request for proposal for the Fiber Marketing and Construction Partner for high-speed Nevada Phase II Nevada Middle Mile Network.

The Nevada Federal Program Officer (FPO) attended and addressed the audience at the September Rural Partners event in Pahrump.
Public Engagement
NTIA worked closely with OSIT to put forward a strong plan with respect to both the Broadband Equity, Access, and Deployment (BEAD) and Digital Equity programs.
Connecting Tribes in Nevada

The Tribal Broadband Connectivity Program (TBCP) awarded $500,000 to the Te-Moak Tribe of Western Shoshone Indians of Nevada: Battle Mountain Band to provide affordable, reliable, high-speed Internet via fiber to the home to over 30 Tribal households and community anchor institutions.
TBCP also awarded $500,000 to the South Fork Band Council to deploy a single tower to provide fixed wireless to the Tribal community center and all houses within line of sight. The community center houses the Tribal council chamber, administrative offices, and medical services. This tower will provide access to the uppermost section of the reservation land.
The Winnemucca Indian Colony of Nevada received a $500,000 TBCP grant to deploy a tower and distribute fiber to approximately 40 homes and community anchor institutions on Colony trust lands.
