Domain Name System
The Internet Domain Name System (DNS) is a critical component of the Internet infrastructure. The DNS associates user-friendly domain names (e.g., www.ntia.doc.gov) with the numeric network addresses (e.g., 170.110.225.155) required to deliver information on the Internet, making the Internet easier for the public to navigate.
NTIA is the Executive Branch expert on issues relating to the DNS and supports a multi-stakeholder approach to the coordination of the DNS to ensure the long-term viability of the Internet as a force for innovation and economic growth.

The IPv6 Readiness Tool for Businesses is a comprehensive checklist for businesses preparing to deploy and adopt IPv6. The tool was developed by experts from industry and the Internet technical community in response to a call from U.S. Chief Technology Officer Aneesh Chopra at an IPv6 workshop hosted by NTIA in September 2010.
Testing and Implementation Requirements for the Initial Deployment of DNSSEC in the Authoritative Root Zone
NTIA and NIST jointly drafted this requirements document to provide baseline architecture, security, and basic functionality requirements for the implementation and operation of DNSSEC at the root zone.
