First, DU will build broadband and information technology (IT) capacity by implementing future-proof infrastructure across its 30-acre campus. Replacing the core switch and load balancer, server room cooler, computer terminals, and off-campus hotspots will give DU students high-speed, reliable access to remote and “HyFlex” (hybrid and flexible) learning.

Second, DU will expand institutional capacity for broadband and technology education through five faculty professional development workshops and ten workshops for students to gain industry-standard micro-credentials in specific, sought-after applications. All such trainings will take place in DU’s recently renovated WeatherTech Innovation Lab, a central space for students to explore technology.

Third, DU will build digital skills and IT workforce capacity by augmenting technology training into its curriculum, offering certification workshops for digital skills and applications, and aligning its efforts with workforce technology needs, particularly in the Chicago region where DU students remain following degree completion. DU also will provide direct IT career preparation activities through a Student Technology Corps.
