Broadband Use and Adoption Activities include:

Provide subsidies of $50 per month for eligible Tribal households, prioritizing households with a Tribal elder living in the residence.

Planning, Engineering, Feasibility, and Sustainability activities include:

Perform OSP engineering and design, including identification of fiber routes, field verification, creation of permit-ready and construction-ready CAD design prints, and completion of permit identification.
Design the central office/network hub location that will house future network infrastructure.
Conduct make-ready identification and aerial load studies.
Conduct an environmental study to analyze the potential impacts of a future FTTH project.

Improved access to telehealth for Tribal elders, support for Tribal households in maintaining or upgrading internet access, and a well-developed, “shovel-ready” project designed and vetted for future Broadband Infrastructure Deployment. The planned network will provide service speeds of up to 1 Gbps.

The Use and Adoption portion of this project intends to primarily benefit Tribal elders, with a secondary benefit to the Tribal members and children who reside with an elder Tribal member.

The Planning, Engineering, Feasibility, and Sustainability portion of this project intends to benefit 289 Tribal households, 9 Tribally owned businesses, and 31 Tribal Community Anchor Institutions, with the potential of connecting 1,362 non-Tribal homes and businesses located within the Swinomish Reservation boundary with future funding.
