FirstNet held six regional consultation workshops in May and June of 2013. The purpose of these meetings was to begin working with the states, territories, tribes, localities and public safety organizations on the network design for FirstNet. During these meetings, FirstNet provided a project update and gathered input from attendees about their requirements and priorities. Presentations from these workshops are available for download below (presentations varied from workshop to workshop as new input from attendees was integrated into the content).
What FirstNet learned in each regional workshop will help inform the design of the network and help make the vendor RFI/RFP process more effective. This will in turn drive the timeline for delivering the state-level build-out plans needed so each state can evaluate its participation in FirstNet.
The regional workshops were just the launching point for FirstNet’s work with stakeholders. They served as the kick off to many more interactions that will ensure that the network built, is done so from the ground up with public safety needs at the forefront of each key decision.
