New Mexico

Department of Information Technology

New Mexico will utilize its existing Interoperability Policy Commission (IPC) and the IPC’s New Mexico State Interoperable Communications Working Group (SICWG) to implement the State and Local Implementation Grant Program (SLIGP).  The State intends to update its Statewide Communication Interoperability Plan as part of the process, and plans to use its six existing regional emergency preparedness regions, the SICWG, and a new structure being established under the New Mexico Broadband Regional Implementation Plan Framework as the primary vehicles for education and outreach to local jurisdictions.  Three tribal representatives regularly attend governance meetings, and the Department of Information technology currently engages with its 23 federally recognized tribes.  New Mexico will leverage these existing relationships to engage tribes in public safety broadband planning efforts.
