NTIA Issues Request for Proposals for Administration of .us Top Level Domain

WASHINGTON – Today, the U.S. Department of Commerce’s National Telecommunications and Information Administration (NTIA) announced that it has issued a Request for Proposals (RFP) for the administration of .us, the United States country code Top-Level Domain (usTLD).

NTIA is responsible for the usTLD contract, which sets requirements for .us, the online home for American businesses, individuals, and geographical localities. In December, NTIA issued a draft RFP and sought public feedback on its scope and instructions.

The solicitation released today lays the groundwork for a modernized, policy-rich environment for the .us domain. Potential vendors are invited to demonstrate how they are capable of securely administering a registry of over 2 million names, as well as present innovative proposals to address complex policy problems. For example, NTIA will be reviewing proposals for creative approaches to addressing DNS Abuse and other malicious conduct in the usTLD, enforcement of the U.S. nexus requirement, and efficient management of access to usTLD registrant data that balances the interests of all stakeholders.

The full solicitation can be found on SAM.gov and proposals from vendors are due by May 18, 2026. The solicitation includes the government’s response to questions received during the draft solicitation comment period, and potential vendors are encouraged to thoroughly review these responses and all other attachments associated with the RFP.
