Measuring Cross-Border Data Flows: Unmet Data Needs Roundtable
As part of the Digital Economy Agenda, the Department of Commerce is working to identify data gaps in measuring the importance of cross-border data flows and the economic impact of restrictions to the free-flow of data. Through this Notice, we announce a roundtable to facilitate a discussion with stakeholders and experts as a first step in improving the Department's understanding of those data gaps and related economic questions. The roundtable will be held on May 9, 2016, from 8:30 a.m.
Recruitment of First Responder Network Authority Board Members
NTIA issues this Notice on behalf of the First Responder Network Authority (FirstNet) to initiate the annual process to seek expressions of interest from individuals who would like to serve on the FirstNet Board. Four of the 12 appointments of non-permanent members to the FirstNet Board expire in August 2016. The Secretary of Commerce may reappoint individuals to serve on the FirstNet Board provided they have not served two consecutive full three-year terms. NTIA issues this Notice to obtain expressions of interest in the event the Secretary must fill any vacancies arising on the Board.
Request for Comments on the Benefits, Challenges, and Potential Roles for the Government in Fostering the Advancement of the Internet of Things
As part of the Commerce Department’s Digital Economy Agenda, NTIA is initiating an inquiry regarding the Internet of Things (IoT) to review the current technological and policy landscape. NTIA seeks broad input from all interested stakeholders — including the private industry, researchers, academia, and civil society — on the potential benefits and challenges of these technologies and what role, if any, the U.S. Government should play in this area.

CSMAC provides advice to the Assistant Secretary for Communications and Information and NTIA Administrator on spectrum policy matters. NTIA, through the BroadbandUSA program, will hold a half-day workshop on March 22, 2016, to engage stakeholders in developing meaningful measures for community broadband access, adoption, policy and use as part of its efforts to develop the Community Connectivity Initiative. The Community Connectivity Initiative Workshop will be held from 8:30 a.m. to 12:00 noon, Pacific Daylight Time in Seattle, WA.
