Second Quarterly Report on the Transition of the Stewardship of the Internet Assigned Numbers Authority (IANA) Functions

NTIA provides quarterly reports on all aspects of the proposed transition of the U.S. government’s stewardship role over the Internet Assigned Numbers Authority (IANA) functions. NTIA’s previous report and detailed background is here. This second report covers activities from February 1, 2015 through March 31, 2015. As required by Public Law 113-235, NTIA will update this report on a quarterly basis.

Notice of 06/11/2015 Meeting of the Facial Recognition Technology Multistakeholder Process

NTIA will convene a meeting of a privacy multistakeholder process concerning the commercial use of facial recognition technology on June 11, 2015. The meeting will be held on June 11, 2015 from 1:00 p.m. to 5:00 p.m., Eastern Daylight Time. The meeting will be held in the Boardroom at the American Institute of Architects, 1735 New York Avenue NW., Washington, DC 20006.

Joint Letter to Congress Certifying DoD Spectrum Support

In accordance with section 1062(b)(1)(B) of the National Defense Authorization Act for Fiscal Year 2000, the Secretary of Commerce, Secretary of Defense and Chairman of the Joint Chiefs of Staff sent letters on January 16, 2015 to leaders of the Senate and House Armed Services and Commerce Committees jointly certifying that the spectrum bands specified in the letters provide comparable technical characteristics to restore essential military capability that will be lost as a result of the Department of Defense (DoD) surrendering use of the 1755-1780 MHz band.
