12/13/2013 CSMAC Lessons Learned Meeting Agenda

The Agenda for 12/12/2013 Meeting on Copyright Policy, Creativity, and Innovation in the Digital Economy is attached. Purpose: To create 5 Working Groups (WG) to consider ways to facilitate the implementation of commercial wireless broadband in the 1695-1710 MHz and 1755-1850 MHz band. When coordinating with the FCC on any steps related to an auction and reallocation of these bands, NTIA will take into consideration the CSMAC recommendations emerging from the Working Group efforts.

ACTION: Notice of open meetings.

SUMMARY: The National Telecommunications and Information Administration (NTIA) will convene meetings of a privacy multistakeholder process concerning the commercial use of facial recognition technology. This Notice announces the meetings to be held in February, March, April, May, and June 2014. The first meeting is scheduled for February 6, 2014.

The FirstNet Board will convene open public meetings of the Board Committees on December 16, 2013, in Denver, Colorado. There will be sequential meetings of FirstNet’s four committees: (1) Governance and Personnel Committee; (2) Finance, Audit and Budget Committee; (3) Planning and Technology Committee; and (4) Outreach Committee. The meetings are open to the public and press, and will be webcast.

NTIA will hold the first meeting of a privacy multistakeholder process regarding the commercial use of facial recognition technology on February 6, 2014.

This web page provides details on the NTIA-convened privacy multistakeholder process regarding the commercial use of facial recognition technology. On December 3, 2013, NTIA announced that the goal of the second multistakeholder process is to develop a voluntary, enforceable code of conduct that specifies how the Consumer Privacy Bill of Rights applies to facial recognition technology in the commercial context. Please refer to this page for the most current information.

In this letter, NTIA responds to the AWS-3 NPRM for purposes of: (1) supplementing the information NTIA submitted to the FCC in July and April 2013 prior to adoption of the NPRM; (2) proposing specific changes to the U.S. Table of Frequency Allocations for the 2025-2110 MHz band that are necessary to implement the alternative proposal of the Department of Defense (DoD) to relocate key operations from the 1755-1780 MHz band; and (3) addressing other important issues raised in the NPRM.
