The Executive Order on Promoting Competition in the American Economy directs the Department of Commerce, in consultation with the Attorney General and the Chair of the Federal Trade Commission (FTC), to conduct a study of the mobile application (app) ecosystem, and submit a report to the Chair of the White House Competition Council, regarding findings and recommendations for improving competition, reducing barriers to entry, and maximizing user benefit with respect to the ecosystem.  Through this Request for Comment, NTIA is requesting comments on competition in the ecosystem in which

President Biden's Bipartisan Infrastructure Law includes a historic investment of $65 billion to help close the digital divide and ensure that all Americans have access to reliable, affordable, high-speed broadband. The National Telecommunications and Information Administration (NTIA) is responsible for distributing more than $48 billion in broadband funding through several different programs under the Bipartisan Infrastructure Law.

NTIA hosted three listening sessions concerning Personal Data: Privacy, Equity, and Civil Rights. NTIA will also be soliciting written comments on the topics discussed in these sessions through a forthcoming Request for Comment. The data gathered through this process will be used to inform a report on the ways in which commercial data flows of personal information can lead to disparate impact and outcomes for marginalized or disadvantaged communities.

This Interagency Agreement sets forth the agreement between the Federal Communications Commission (FCC), the United States Department of Agriculture (USDA), and NTIA to require coordination among the Covered Agencies for the distribution of funds for broadband deployment under the FCC’s High-Cost Programs, the programs administered by the Rural Utilities Service of USDA, and the programs administered by or coordinated through NTIA.

NTIA requested comments on the minimum elements for a Software Bill of Materials (SBOM), and what other factors should be considered in the request, production, distribution, and consumption of SBOMs.  Comments were due June 17, 2021.

NTIA sought public comments regarding activities, priorities, and policies that advance telecommunications and information and communications technology (ICT) development worldwide to assist the U.S. government in the development of its position for the World Telecommunication Development Conference (WTDC-2021). Comments were due June 7, 2021
